Army: Suspect arrested after motorcycle collision on 74 Road, drug test returns positive

 

Two soldiers attached to 63 Brigade, Nigerian Army, have died after a driver allegedly high on cannabis and cocaine rammed into their motorcycle on Saturday in Asaba, Delta State.

The crash occurred along 74 Road in Oshimili South LGA, according to counter-insurgency publication Zagazola Makama.

Security sources told Makama the soldiers were riding a motorcycle when a vehicle hit them. They were rushed to 63 Brigade Medical Centre but were confirmed dead on arrival.

The driver was arrested at the scene. A drug test conducted by security operatives reportedly came back positive for cannabis and cocaine.

The suspect has since been handed over to 63 Provost Company for investigation and further action, Makama reported.

Remains of the deceased soldiers have been deposited at Asaba Specialist Hospital mortuary pending burial arrangements.

Authorities have commenced investigation to determine the full circumstances surrounding the accident.
