PMAN seeks Defence Ministry's partnership to empower FCT youths

The Performing Musicians Employers Association of Nigeria (PMAN), FCT Chapter, has presented a strategic partnership proposal to the Federal Ministry of Defence aimed at promoting youth empowerment, national unity, and creative economy development through music and entertainment initiatives.

The proposal, championed by the Governor PMAN FCT Chapter, Michael Oyibo Kaycee, popularly known as Kaycee Kline, is designed to empower more than 3,000 youths across the Federal Capital Territory through structured training, mentorship, and creative development programmes.

According to the association, over 85 public and private schools within the FCT have already indicated interest in participating in the initiative, which seeks to leverage music and entertainment as tools for social reorientation, peacebuilding, and economic empowerment.

The proposal outlines several programmes, including music education, creative entrepreneurship training, sound engineering, event management, stage production, digital entertainment marketing, and talent discovery schemes aimed at equipping young Nigerians with practical skills for self-reliance.

PMAN also proposed youth advocacy campaigns against drug abuse, cultism, violent extremism, and other social vices through music-driven communication and community engagement strategies.

As part of the initiative, the association plans to organise patriotic concerts, military entertainment tours, and troop morale support programmes to strengthen civil-military relations and foster national unity.

Speaking on the vision behind the proposal, PMAN leadership highlighted the increasing importance of Nigeria’s entertainment industry as a viable platform for job creation, youth engagement, and national development.

The project is expected to be implemented in phases, beginning with stakeholder mobilisation, followed by school-based training, workshops, mentorship sessions, and performance showcases for participants.

PMAN FCT Chapter expressed confidence that the partnership would create sustainable opportunities for young Nigerians while contributing positively to the growth of Nigeria’s creative economy and national orientation objectives.

The association reaffirmed its commitment to supporting national development through music, culture, and youth empowerment, while seeking the collaboration and support of the Federal Ministry of Defence to bring the initiative to fruition.
