The Nigeria Police Force has arrested a chef, John Cosmos Govi, for alleged involvement in drugging occupants and stealing luxury items worth about ₦150 million from a residence in Abuja.
Force Public Relations Officer DCP Anthony Okon Placid said Govi was arrested by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department–Intelligence Response Team.
He faces allegations of criminal conspiracy, housebreaking, administering harmful substances, malicious damage to property, and theft.
Police said preliminary investigations showed Govi, trained as a chef in Cotonou, Benin Republic, secured employment at the residence after linking up with two accomplices, Peter and Moses, who remain at large.
Investigators allege he monitored the home’s routine and security before carrying out the operation on 23 April 2026, using food prepared in the house to incapacitate occupants.
